THE LEFT HEMISPHERE
The left hemisphere controls writing and movement of the right side of the body. The left hemisphere is usually dominant in language and tasks involving symbolic reasoning.

Usually very academic or “smart” because the language and sequencing skills are predominantly in the left brain. They can be obsessive about a particular subject and know all of the facts about that subject. They are very analytical and rigid in their routines and do not like change. They often can not see another person’s perspective and do not read body language well. Therefore, it is a struggle to make friends and they are often reclusive or “introverted”. They are generally not athletic and would rather play Lego than baseball. Can be identifiable by their lack of social skills and behavioral issues.
THE RIGHT HEMISPHERE
The right hemisphere controls touch and movement of the left side of the body and is typically superior at nonverbal, visual, and spatial tasks.

Very easy going, relaxed and social. These individuals operate by feel and tactile touch; how they feel, and how others feel. They are very good at reading body language and situations, therefore they usually make friends well. They are very unstructured and often are daydreamers. They may struggle academically, because they are not linear thinkers and lack sequencing and phonological skills needed for reading, math, and success in school. They are usually very good athletes because of their strong spatial abilities. Typically identified by their academic struggles.

The corpus callosum permits the exchange of information between the two hemispheres.
